Agave Fields in Cozumel

Cozumel is not just a place for diving and ocean activities,

there is so much more to it.

When I moved to the island, and decided to pursue a photography business here,

I always reminded myself to explore all possibilities, not just limit myself to beach scenes.

We recently did a shoot with our favorite model, Alessandra in the agave fields of Hacienda Antigua Tequila Tour.

It has always been a dream or goal of mine to shoot in the agave fields, especially because it is such a strong symbol of Mexico.

I wanted to do something trendy, creative, colorful, something that would help uplift the idea of this beautiful plant.

Many people don't even know where tequila comes from.

Some people might not even know what the “tequila” plant looks like! Believe me, those people are out there.

(Mostly sitting in South Africa)

So I wanted to educate some people on this..

I believe the thought of doing this session came to me when my partner and I were shooting a wedding at this location with Adrian-Cozumel.

I had a clear vision of what I wanted to do, I kept it to myself for a while, and added it to my list of photo concept sessions that I would like to do in 2020.

Covid came, and of course, this messed with our plans.

I knew I could still accomplish this session when the time was right.

After a few months, Alessandra and I met for a different session we were working on and she had informed me of her newly found passion for mixology. She had started experimenting with making her own drinks. I thought this would be a great opportunity to shoot Alessandra with this idea.

The two and two would mix PERFECTLY!

So I contacted Adrian Cozumel to help organize the session at the venue.

A big thank you to him for helping us! We changed dates about three times due to the lovely rain, but the staff at Hacienda were ready for us every time.

The clouds cleared, the rain subsided and we were finally able to do the shoot. The staff were amazing, friendly and assisted us with everything we needed.

So at the end of every blog I say something that is supposed to inspire and make people think.

But this time the only thing I would like to say is...

I love Mexico, I love these agave fields and of course the plants.

They are unique and bring so much joy to all celebrations or events.

They are well respected in all areas of Mexico and for a very good reason.

If you find something you love or are inspired by, express it in the ways you know how.

There are many people that will appreciate your creativity and passion.

I hope you now know where tequila comes from...
